Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 7 May 2026 · Effective: 7 May 2026
These Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Byte Insights Limited, a company registered in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”, “our”). They govern your use of the idle.py mobile application (the “App”) and the website at idlepy.com (the “Site”, together the “Services”).
By installing, accessing, or using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Services.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher) to use the App. If you are between 13 and the age of legal majority in your country, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
2. Licence
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to install and use the App on devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the App, except to the extent that such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
- Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the App, or remove any proprietary notices.
- Use the Services to transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code.
- Use bots, scripts, automated tools, or memory editors to manipulate game progress, currencies, entitlements, or in-app purchases.
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the Services or any related systems or networks.
- Use the Services in any way that violates applicable law or these Terms.
We may suspend or terminate access for any user who breaches this section, without refund of any consumed in-app purchases.
4. In-App Purchases
4.1 General
The App is free to download and play. Optional in-app purchases (“IAPs”) unlock additional content or in-game items. All IAPs are processed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play, subject to those stores’ own terms and payment policies. Prices are displayed before you purchase, in your local currency where the store supports it.
4.2 What you are buying
The App offers two categories of IAPs:
- Non-consumable unlocks — one-time purchases that grant a permanent entitlement (e.g. Founder Pack, Mentor Pack). These can be restored to the same store account using the “Restore Purchases” option in the App.
- Consumable items — one-time-use boosts and skips (e.g. Skip 4 Hours, Skip 24 Hours, Skip 7 Days, +5 Insight, +15 Insight). Once applied to your game, they are deemed used and cannot be restored or transferred.
4.3 Virtual items
FLOPs, Insight, Knowledge, Mastery, Compute Units, AI Landmarks, Transcendence Units, and any other in-game items or currencies have no monetary value, cannot be redeemed for real money, and cannot be transferred outside the App. Your licence to use them ends when your licence to use the App ends.
4.4 Refunds
Refunds for IAPs are handled by Apple or Google in line with their store policies. We do not process refunds directly.
- iOS: reportaproblem.apple.com
- Android: Google Play refund help
Statutory rights (UK / EEA). Where applicable, you have a 14-day right to withdraw from a digital-content purchase under UK and EU consumer protection law. By making an IAP and using the unlocked content immediately, you expressly request that performance begin before the end of the 14-day cancellation period and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the digital content has been delivered. This does not affect any non-waivable statutory rights.
4.5 Price changes and availability
We may change prices, add or remove products, or end-of-life specific IAPs at our discretion. Changes will not affect IAPs you have already purchased.
5. Educational Content & No Professional Advice
idle.py teaches the basics of Python and contemporary AI engineering for general educational purposes. The lessons, quizzes, and code samples are provided “as is” and do not constitute professional, academic, financial, or legal advice. Always test code in a safe environment before relying on it in production.
6. Intellectual Property
The App, the Site, the curriculum, lesson text, quiz banks, code samples, branding (including the idle.py name and logo), and all related materials are owned by Byte Insights Limited or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. The Python logo and word mark referenced for educational purposes are trademarks of the Python Software Foundation; their use in the App does not imply affiliation or endorsement.
7. User Feedback
If you send us feedback, ideas, or suggestions about the Services, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use them without obligation or compensation.
8. Updates & Changes
We may release updates to the App from time to time. Some updates may be required for the App to keep functioning. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. Game balance — including IAP effects, Compute Unit costs, and progression curves — may be adjusted at any time without notice and without compensation.
9. Third-Party Services
The Services rely on third-party providers including Apple, Google, RevenueCat, and PostHog. Your use of those providers is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their acts or omissions.
10. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free or that defects will be corrected.
11. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (c) any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.
Subject to the above, to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill arising out of or in connection with the Services.
- Our aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Services shall not exceed the greater of (i) the total amount you paid us through IAPs in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to liability, or (ii) GBP £20.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time by uninstalling the App. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without cause or notice, including for breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use rules in section 3. On termination, sections 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, and 14 survive.
13. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any dispute, except that consumers resident elsewhere may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where they live, where mandatory consumer-protection laws so require.
14. App Store-Specific Terms (iOS)
The following terms apply when you obtain the App from the Apple App Store:
- These Terms are between you and Byte Insights Limited only, and not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
- The licence granted in section 2 is limited to a non-transferable licence to use the App on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance and support for the App.
- If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the App. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any product or third-party intellectual property claims regarding the App.
- Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the Services after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to a change, stop using the Services.
